First Fire of ENVIROPOWER™ Grate at the Songkhla WtE Plant in, Thailand

 In Media

Great progress continues at the Songkhla Waste-to-Energy (WtE) facility. Following a fast and well-coordinated commissioning phase—driven by strong collaboration between the TPIPP operations team (plant owner), the CNEEC commissioning team (EPC contractor), and the CNIM MARTIN Private Limited. (CMPL) commissioning team—the first of the two ENVIROPOWER™ grates, each rated at 350 TPD, has successfully achieved its initial ignition and completed its first burn of municipal solid waste (MSW).

This milestone marks a significant step toward full commercial operation and reflects the commitment and technical expertise of all teams involved.

Our ENVIROPOWER™ grate has performed reliably, operating continuously for seven days following its initial ignition. This stable performance enabled CNEEC to proceed with steam blowing activities and maintain the tight commissioning schedule for the southernmost WtE plant in Thailand.

Waste characteristics in this region—marked by high moisture content, elevated organic fractions, and limited segregation—present a significant treatment challenge. The ENVIROPOWER™ grate is specifically engineered to address such conditions, providing a robust and efficient combustion solution. Since its first fire, and even before all parameters have been fully fine-tuned, the grate has demonstrated strong combustion efficiency, very low levels of unburnt material, and a notable ability to process substantial quantities of inert waste.

The ENVIROPOWER™ grate is engineered by MARTIN GmbH in Germany, leveraging more than a century of global expertise in municipal solid waste incineration. Its industrialization in India by CNIM MARTIN Private Limited. incorporates robust design adaptations with stringent Quality requirements to meet the specific waste characteristics and operational conditions prevalent across Southeast Asia.

Beyond Thailand, the ENVIROPOWER™ grate technology has been selected for multiple ongoing Waste-to-Energy projects in India and Vietnam, underscoring its reliability, adaptability, and strong operational performance across diverse waste streams and regional environments.
